Memories of Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork

Memories of Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork

My favourite items on the platter must have been the extra lean (at least I didn't discover much fat) pulled pork drenched in a mix of Aunt Shirley's BBQ sauce (really the best tasting of the sauces sampled) and Hallelujah Hot sauce. The shreads in the basket weren't as well coated, and because the meat was lean, they really did require the moisture (and the smokey sweet flavours. Yum). The beef brisket was again another fairly lean cut (I was beginning to think that this usually high calorie and fat meal would end up being... *shock* healthy! Again, this was Memphis attempting to banish my previous misconceptions about Southern BBQ!) and much like the tender almost-fall-of-the-bone texture of beef tongue, almost. Salvation came in the BBQ sauce, which at the end of the day, should be just made into a beverage to be sipped on.

I believe the attractiveness of the sauce was due to the semi-Asian je ne sais quoi influences. We could taste the subtle hint (maybe soy sauce or perhaps Korean pepper powder?) of SE Asia, but nothing strong enough to be detected by our palates. Maybe it was MSG, as we were both quite parched near the end (at least the high sodium content of BBQ/BBQ sauce preconception wasn't challenged here!).

Day 145 - Teriyaki Corner

Day 145 - Teriyaki Corner

Day 145 - As agreed a while back, I would take wifey to places she mentions, so today I took her here, way in the west end, what you feast your eyes on is the Japanese curry pork cutlet. I have to say the cutlet was good, altho the curry sorta tasted like that gilco stuff you get at tnt. All in all it was good, after all who can really say no to fried porkchop. We also had an order of salmon roll, which they rolled in fried panko crumbs for texture, not bad if I will add.

After that we hit up the mall in the west end to burn off those lunch time calories. Walking end to end, wifey picked up a book, and that is about it, tried on a bunch of stuff, but never purchased any of it.

After all that calorie burn, it turns out we hit up tnt to get some greasy chinese food, starting with bean curd, ending with beef brisket. Hahaha so much for burning calories. Altho dinner was very yummy.

Noise & exhaust of barrelling semi trailerload of bacon strips & scrambled eggs with buttered grits & buttered biscuit.

LITERALLY TONS OF TONS OF AMERICANS need semis for nearly their every bite and chew and swallow of densely rich foodstuffs, but during their ingestions ("sittings") they seem hardly ever to think about the noises and smells of trucks and truckers, as part of the experience. Nor to mention noisy trucks and smelly truckers during their showy prayings-aloud at their mealtimes.

• find your barriers to lasting weight loss and learn strategies to help you consistently make better choices for a healthier and happier life

Including a simple follow-up plan for continued success and lasting weight loss, The Duke Diet also features personal advice from Drs. Eisenson and Binks, commentary on health problems associated with excess weight, patient success stories, and frequently asked questions to keep you informed and inspired as you become slimmer, fitter, and–most important–healthier!

Day 82 - Favourite Things Part 2

Day 82 - Favourite Things Part 2

On my new healthy regime...the Nature Valley Fruit and Nut bar is my new favourite snack of choice.

It's certainly not melted cheese on toast...but it's still rather nice..and a whole lot healthier for me.

Multi purpose, as a mid afternoon snack..or a suppertime treat, usually accompanied by a steaming hot mug of strong tea, or just as a quick pick me up when the hunger pangs kick in.

It's become quite the little ally in my fight against cravings.... :-)

Thinking Skinny: Transform Any Healthy Weight-Loss Program Into Supercharged Success

2009 Midwest Book Awards finalist: No stomach surgery, no pills, and no kooky dieting. THINKING SKINNY by Nadia Giordana outlines an easy and effective methodology for boosting your weight loss results regardless of how much you plan to lose. The method involves using creative visualizations with a technique called "Focusing Forward" and a daily dialogue with God. Nadia says, "This is not a diet in the trendy sense of the word. There are plenty of hot new diet books on the market at any given time and they all work for a while. If you apply this technique to a sensible eating plan, I am confident you will lose more weight than you dared to dream and you will keep it off for the first time in your life." Exercise is not an absolutely necessary component of this program, but if you are able to be active, your results will be even better. For more information and/or for a link to get jacketed hardcover copies, go to www.ThinkingSkinny.com. Author Nadia Giordana went from weighing 215 pounds to 127, losing 88 pounds in a period of 14 months. To meet her goal, she used a combination of healthier eating, calorie reduction, creative focused visualizations, and a daily dialog with God as her primary tools. In her words, "If you can envision the body you want, you can embody that vision; and it isn't the individual diet you choose that matters most, it's the method you use with it."

From LANYARDLADY and comes a spring lanyard smack-full of tasty Jolly Rancher colors—with bits of licorice! How I wish it had a fragrance as well!

This charming lanyard came about after I challenged myself to work with a color combination I had never used before. I picked rose pink, emerald green, and black.

My inspiration beads were a large pink cats eye oval and matching pearls. I used rose faceted crystals, emerald green glass teardrops, black pearls, and black tube beads. There are silver metal tulip and scallop bead caps scattered throughout. This chain is rose pink and emerald green seed beads.
