I've struggled with my weight off and on for years and although I started the year with a lot of enthusiasm to get myself to a healthy weight, my enthusiasm has waned in the last two months.

I can't tell you how many times I've thought about going to the farmer's market and stopped myself because I've thought "I can't do that - I'm trying to lose weight". At some point it really clicked - my idea of losing weight is totally disconnected from my idea of healthy eating, and as a result, I end up eating really shitty food with little nutritional value, or I eat frozen stuff that doesn't really taste good and is super high in preservatives.

I think what I'm realizing is that a) there is no quick fix - it took time to gain this weight and it will take time to lose it, b) I can't diet anymore, I need to re-learn how to eat healthy, and c) I live in one of the best agricultural areas in the country and need to take advantage of that by eating the real food that is grown here.

In conclusion, I decided that I need to lose some of the fat build-up, to exercise, and start eating right. The process of losing weight has taught me how to eat right and exercise daily to maintain my body. Now, I’m feeling better than I did before, and I can be more active, and do more sports activities. It’s never too late to think about your health and get back in shape. In the long run you’ll have a healthier, body and mind.
